In this session, I am going to show you how to place equipment in a Revit model. First, let us open the “1F” plan view. On the underlay, we can see some sanitary and kitchen equipment. To ensure that we place equipment in the right position, let us also open the 3D view. Press “W” and “T” at the same time to have two views side by side. In the 3D view, right-click the “ViewCube.” Then go to “Orient to View,” “Floor Plans,” and select “Floor Plan: 1F.” Now let us start with placing the bathtub. We need to measure the bathtub size on the underlay to determine its type first. Under the “Modify” tab, select the “Measure” tool. Measure the length of the bathtub on the underlay, and we get 157 cm. All the equipment needed has been loaded to this project, so let us go to the “Architecture” tab, click on “Component.” Then select the “Place a Component” tool. In the “Properties” palette, select the bathtub size of 72 cm x 157 cm. As you can see, this bathtub family, like a window or a door, needs to be hosted by a wall. If the direction of the bathtub is not what we want, we can hit the spacebar to flip it. Then we place the bathtub accordingly. If needed, we may use the “Align” tool to align the bathtub with another alignment. Check the bathtub in the 3D view to see if it is placed correctly. Now, please practice the same procedure to place the rest equipment in the bathroom and kitchen. When you finish, you should be able to see the result like this.
