When I start every program, I want to make sure that the program is designed to get the best of my participants. And so you might ask yourself, what are the kind of things that I could take away that would make this program successful? I've been doing this for many, many years, and there are six key ingredients or key take aways that my participants talk about over and over again. And so let me just address those very quickly because I think it's important to understand the context in which I'm going to be presenting these. First off, as non-financial managers, participants want to have a say in the decision making. And in order to have a say that make sense, they have to understand the financials that are being given to them. And so my participants usually want to have a say, and they want to understand what are the financials that back up the decisions that are going on. The second thing that I hear, often, is that they have an idea of what the financials mean, but they don't know how to drill down in depth and this program is going to give you that ammunition. The third thing is they have an understanding of how the decision is being made but they very rarely have an idea about how to offer an alternative or to combat what it is that people are suggesting. Fourth is that they just don't have that much of an understanding of the financials overall. And they want to get better at understanding where information from the organization is ending up on the financials and how to read that information. The fifth thing that I hear very often is that individuals have been put into a decision making place in their organization and they've really had very, very little background in understanding where the money is coming from and where the money is going. And so a class like this gives them that much more confidence in their current role in the organization. And lastly, the money matters, that is, all organizations have goals and most organizations have goals that have to do with profits, profitability. Being able to measure the profitability and translate that into strategy can make your job more successful and make you more successful in your job.
