Welcome to the capstone course for the power of team culture, and congratulations to those of you who have made it through the entire specialization. I'm Aviva Legatt and I am a consultant in Selective College Admissions, and faculty here at University of Pennsylvania in Organizational Dynamics. I have lectured globally about how to use your values to select the right educational match. My expertise has been sought by students and families around the world, and by organizations like the New York Times and Business Insider. >> And I'm Derek Newberry. I'm a Business Anthropologist, which basically means that I study the human factors driving organization effectiveness. I teach students and executives here at the University of Pennsylvania on how to improve their communication and collaboration skills. As a leadership development consultant, I also help clients build high performing teams and manage company culture. >> Over the course of this specialization, you've learned about how to build a team culture, diagnose problems, manage diversity and create a environment that benefits from continuous learning. In this capstone you'll be taking all of that knowledge and applying it to a real life case. Over the coming weeks, you will get to know a company with a major challenge. One of your top executives has just left and his departure has revealed deep culture problems throughout the organization. Your job in this capstone will be to identify the key issues and offer recommendations as if you're advising an actual client. >> So let us give you a quick overview of what to expect. First, we'll give you the basic facts of the case. We'll introduce you to the company, its industry and its specific situation. Then in the next module you'll learn more about the team culture challenges the business faces, and begin to diagnose the underlying problems. In module three, you'll dig into the key personnel issues and consider candidates to replace an executive on the company's top team. And then in the last week, you'll put everything together into a set of final recommendations for the company. You'll act as the consultant, helping the client improve their team and organizational dynamic. The overall purpose of this capstone project is to go from learning general concepts to actually getting practice using them in a realistic workplace scenario. >> We collaborated with an industry partner to develop this case. That means that this is a Is a real business with a real issue that you'll be working on. We've changed some of the details to make the company anonymous and to protect the client's confidentiality, but the team dynamics issues you will learn about are ones that come up in organizational life all of the time. In a moment you will meet Tony Morales. He's a senior associate at N2 Growth, a leading executive surge in management consulting firm. >> And so in each module you'll hear more details about the case from Tony as you build toward your final recommendations. So, why don't we dive right into the case.
