Learner Reviews & Feedback for Analyze Digital Marketing Spend in Tableau by Coursera Project Network

About the Course

Tableau is widely recognized as one of the premier data visualization software programs. For many years access to the program was limited to those who purchased licenses. Recently, Tableau launched a public version that grants the ability to create amazing data visualizations for free. Account members can also share and join projects to collaborate on projects that can change the world. In this project, we will learn how to create an account, how to upload and work with diverse data sets, and how to analyze marketing spend within Tableau. Learning to use this in-demand tool has applications in Marketing, Finance, Operations, Sales, and many other business functions. Note: This course works best for learners who are based in the North America region. We’re currently working on providing the same experience in other regions....

The instructor skipped many important steps and didn't give sufficient explanation

The instructor spent a lot of time explaining how to sign up for Tableau Public, and what marketing metrics are. Then completely skipped the part about how to use Tableau (which was my personal goal). The name of the course does not reflect the context. The instructor confused the different metrics (e.g. have not provided comments on how the "total count of unique customers" or "purchase frequency" were estimated). Not clear why the instructor did all the work upfront instead of guiding people on how to use it. Not clear why the instructor used a data set that did not provide the relevant data to calculate the metrics she wanted (e.g. instructor suggested dividing things by a fixed number (an assumtion of constant number of clients each each) instead of using a dataset that would provide actual data on the number of cutomers per year...) . Plus, some of the formulas suggested were clearly erroneous (e.g. for average purchase the instrictor divided total sales by unique number of sales, so the numerator and denominator do not even match).

Considering the money spent, the project was too short and really not worth it. I enrolled for the guided project first time and it didn't really work well. The practice session was too short and I had high expectations that the project would provide skills helpful in the real world.

Missing key steps that make it confusing and not possible to generate vizzes by following the video. Not a single viz generated here. Very disappointing!

The instructor didn't explain some fields, I figured it out myself. But if you are a beginner don't go for this. Also no work worth publishing was done.

Hard to follow, the instructor skips steps. Not much content on marketing analytics at all.

In the final section, the instructor completely skips over many steps in the process
